NEMŠKI ROVT VILLAGE

NEMŠKI ROVT VILLAGE

A Little About Our Village

The house of Resje is located in a small village with approximately 100 inhabitants, at an altitude of 668 meters, far away from the hustle and bustle of modern tourism. Here, you can experience the pulse of village life and the scent of fresh mountain air. In the village, there is an organic farm where you can enjoy excellent cottage cheese and a Bohinj specialty called “mohant” cheese. The central part of the village is occupied by the Church of St. Ahac, which was consecrated in the same year, 1492, when Christopher Columbus discovered America.

Take a walk through our village, and at the end, you will be rewarded with an exceptional view of the Bohinj Valley, surrounded by the Bohinj mountains. Unforgettable. Join us.

In the village, Jan Strgar, a beekeeper, was born in the Ahčič House, although he lived and worked in Bitnje (you can see the exterior where a memorial plaque is attached). The tradition of beekeeping is now continued at the Nack and Kramar farms. Don’t miss the old Kobal farmhouse, where the façade preserves Baroque frescoes from 1777. The windows are framed with natural stone, which is also used in the arched entrance in the middle with the year 1887.

In Nemški Rovt, under suitable conditions, you can even go rowing and, in winter, ice-skating. Occasionally, a torrential lake forms after heavy rain near the village, along the road leading to Jelovica. A small lake is formed in the depression (600 meters long, 200 meters wide, and up to 10 meters deep), but it completely dries up as it has no inflows.

A road passes by Nemški Rovt to the Soriška Planina ski resort or further over the pass into the Bača Valley towards Podbrdo. This route is interesting for cycling and motorcycle tours due to its exceptional nature and beautiful curves.
